Starting your Career: Alternative ways to look for work
Recorded on 24 June 2021. Are you a graduate of the University of Leeds or a final year student about to graduate? Are you currently job hunting or looking to change your career path? While the COVID-19 pandemic has had an effect on the graduate recruitment market, there are signs that it’s not been hit as badly as some had predicted, and with the economy beginning to recover as the country opens up after lockdown, it’s a more encouraging time to be seeking work than this time last year. To aid your job search, you can watch this fantastic event featuring a University of Leeds alum working in recruitment. Remember that in addition to this you still have access to a range of support from the Careers Service. Beth Hancock works as a Recruitment Consultant at Headway Recruitment in Leeds and is a 2018 graduate of the University of Leeds. At this session, she’ll talk about her experiences job hunting as a recent graduate and how she got into her current role. She’ll also talk about alternative ways of looking for work including using recruitment agencies, the value of temporary work and using social media and LinkedIn.
