Digging deeper into instructor contributions to MOOC Discussions: Why instructor activities may not foster deep learning? Fereshte Goshtasbpour
Following the findings of my doctoral study about instructors’ contributions to the discussions of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), I will be discussing the reasons that inhibit instructors’ contributions to foster deep learning. Drawing on the Community of Inquiry framework, I will explain why instructors’ social, pedagogical and cognitive contributions only encourage surface learning and what modifications to instructor activities are required to support deep learning in MOOCs. Recorded at the Centre for Research in Digital Education research symposium (May 2019). For more information, see: https://crde.leeds.ac.uk/
